During that struggle, what we focus on ends up defining our adult identity. Doctors are doctors, salesmen are salesmen, and teachers are teachers. There is an artificial order or social hierarchy to adulthood that mirrors the same miniature world of childhood. However, as adults, we are free to discard the formalities and just become normal (should we choose to do so). Our focus is what defines us rather than a salary-defined hierarchy.
